A woman I know a little, only a little, gave me an
orchid for my birthday - when I asked her why, she
said she heard I loved plants, drew pictures of
them and therefore a lovely orchid seemed
appropriate. Very kind thought.
I drew a pencil and pastel version of this orchid,
on paper without a pot, and then one night, I came
home from drawing "Dysart's Calonchoes" and
was still frustrated, almost angry, and so I sat up
and did this version of "Jacque's Orchid" until
the early hours of the morning. I still love looking
at it.
